Forest Research Centre

Tree Breeding & Seed Establishment

This section is established in 1980 to complement and continue the work started in the FAO/UNDP Seed Sources Establishment and Tree Improvement Project. With a well-equipped seed laboratory, this section has the facilities to carry out seed tests (certify seeds according to international standards) and other aspects of seed research. A cold room is provided for storing seeds of various species. Seeds are obtained from overseas and through seed collection from local improved sources and processed in laboratory thereby providing a source of seed supply for the Centre and other organisations which require seeds.
