The initial target for planting was 1,280 hectares. However, toward the end of 2012, the actual planted or restored area is 1,501 hectares or about 17% of the total planted exceeded from the original target. The planting achievement is shown in table as follows:

Summary Analysis for Monitoring Programme in 2012
Based on the preliminary analysis of monitoring programme undertaken in various forest restoration activities within the Ulu Segama Malua SFM Project area, it revealed that the mean mortality rate is about 12.6% (as shown in Table below). The mortality of planted seedlings were contributed by several factors such quality of seedlings, water stress during prolonged drought, weeds competition, wildlife disturbance and human carelessness (poor planting technique and planting material handling).
