Log Auction Conditions and Procedures

Those who wish to participate in the auction are to register themselves with the Sandakan District Forest Officer by paying a non refundable registration fee of RM 500.00 (USD 170) before 09:30 am on AUCTION DAY.  All registered bidders are to bring along a Cashier's Order/Bank Draft (cash in RM or USD is also accepted) of not less than RM 10,000.00 (will depend on the current exchange rate for USD) payable to the Director Of Forestry for inspection, before bidding commences.  Those who are unable to do so, unfortunately, will be barred from bidding.

The auction conditions and procedures are as follow:

  1. UPSET-PRICE: As indicated, inclusive of all Government charges except for royalty-export at RM 156.00/m3 or RM 121.00/m3 depending on species classification or, for local processing at RM 81.00/m3;

  2. This is an open auction with no restriction or classification on the prospective buyers.  Registered bidders may bid separately for each of the lots or all of the lots;

  3. A deposit of RM 10,000.00 has to be paid immediately by the successful bidder, and the balance due (final bid price + royalty) in within four (4) weeks from the auction date for international bidder and 2 weeks for local bidders, failing which, the deposit paid will be forfeited;

  4. All biddings must be rounded up to the nearest Ringgit (US Dollar);

  5. The bidder is at liberty to choose logs either for local sales or for export in log-form, or for a mixture of both.  Log export quota is guaranteed by the Sabah Forestry Department.

  6. Successful bidders (local) are given a period of  2 weeks and successful foreign bidders, a period of one (1) month from date of auction to remove their logs from the log storage site.  This is to ensure availability of space to store freshly cut logs for the next and/or subsequent sales by auction.
