Heartwood generally golden brown or red brown when freshly cut, darkening on exposure. Sapwood white to yellowish white becoming light brown after prolonged exposure.

USES:
Making carpenter tools (planes), handles for axes, hoes and hammers, shelves, boat building, mill-Wight's work and possibly furniture.
