Heartwood white when freshly cut, turning yellow on exposure. Sapwood generally around 5 cm in width and easily distinguished from the heartwood.

USES:
The high silica content makes Melapi an unpopular saw milling timber and this disadvantaged applies to all joinery manufacturing process and, is indeed enhanced as the timber seasons.
