*RENGAS (Anacardiaceae sp.)*
COLOUR (UNIFORMITY):
Heartwood deep blood red, sometimes with bands of darker colour. Darkens on exposure. Not all species produce red heartwood. Sapwood light pink to brown to almost white. Sharply differentiated from the heartwood, up to 7" or more wide.
DURABILITY:
Moderately durable.
USES:
Furniture and turnery. Also used for making daching (Chinese weighing scales).
